I have a painful swelling on my gum. i think i need antibiotics. can i go to my doctor for treatment?!


Question: I have a painful swelling on my gum.. i think i need antibiotics.. can i go to my doctor for treatment.?
or do i have to see my private dentist who will charge me

You should really see your dentist.. GPs get a bit fed up with dealing with dental problems just because dentists don't offer emergency appointments.. If you have a nice GP they may well help out but you might be told to contact the dentist..Health Question & Answer

A doctor......its most probably an abcess....if your cheek starts to swell then its definatly an abcess....the doctor will prescribe you antibiotics......if its not an abcess then the doc will reffer you to the dentist but i advise you go to the docs first......

I don't know but if you tell the doctor that you can't get a dental appointment I think they probably will.. In the meantime try rinsing your mouth with warm salty water, you might gag a bit but it does help..Health Question & Answer

You can more than likley see your doctor for the antibiotics but he will probably refer you to a dentist..
Try rinsing with poroxcide and warm water(don't swallow)that will help with the swelling..Health Question & Answer

go to your doctor.. Your dentist might not even be able to perscribe antibiotics.. Most people only go to their dentist for that routnine cleaning and check up.. And fixing cavaties, root cannals etc......Health Question & Answer
