My gum is red around one of my teeth, and it's very sore. What's causing this?!

Question: My gum is red around one of my teeth, and it's very sore.. What's causing this.?
On the top left part of my mouth, [3rd to last tooth with wisdom in], my gum is very red around it, almost like it's bleeding, but when I touched it no blood come on my finger.. It hurts really bad, almost like I'd have a sore on it..
When I brush, it hurts so bad I have to skip that part of my mouth, and my toothbrush is already sensitive.. I can't eat some things on that side of my mouth, either..

My mom's making an appointment for me to visit the dentist next week..

Do you know what this is/ What I can do to heal it.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
I have had this problem a few days ago,you may have a abscess on your tooth or root.. A tooth abscess or root abscess is pus enclosed in the tissues of the jaw bone at the tip of an infected tooth.. Usually the abscess originates from a bacterial infection that has accumulated in the soft pulp of the tooth.. This is usually, but not always, associated with a dull, throbbing, excruciating pain..A tooth abscess typically originates from dead pulp tissue, usually caused by untreated tooth decay, cracked teeth or extensive periodontal disease.. A failed root canal treatment may also create a similar abscess.. What you can do to heal it is..........either gargle w/ warm salt water, or you could always place a tea bag on that area inside of your mouth.. I did both of these, and they worked really well.. I went to the dentist a few days ago, and I had to be put on antibodies to allow the infection to go away before any dental work could be preformed.. Just remember, to not put your fingers back there, but your fingers harvest germs, and this will only cause it to swell even more.. Get to the dentist right away, and in the meantime, gargle w/ warm water and salt........

good luck!Health Question & Answer

could be an abcess if it's been going on for awhile.. I know when it happens to me, it's usually just some food stuck up near the gum and I simple floss a few times and brush and it gets better.. But yours sounds more like an abcess so it's good you're going to the dentist.. Gargle with salt water til then to keep it disinfected and cleanHealth Question & Answer

Could be a popcorn shell.. Floss, brush, and listerine..Health Question & Answer
