It's not painful at all.. I wrote this the day I got my braces on lol:

Hi today I got my braces on and it took about an hour and a half! It was pretty fast and very boring!
1..) She took this sour bitter stuff and she put it all over my teeth to clean them extra good..
2..) She had to rinse it off after about a minute..
3..) She Took these brackets out of a little plate thing and put this rubber thing to open my mouth really big
4..) She put glue that did not really taste like anything all over my teeth so that they would stick on..
5..) She put them on this metal stick
6..)She pushed them on really hard and used this thing that looked like a gun with a orange thing on the end and pushed that on my teeth for a couple of seconds to dry the glue
7..) Then they put a metal string looking thing (lol) and then they clip it onto your braces..
8..) Then I had to pick what colors I wanted.. She said that I can pick whatever colors I wanted and it didn't matter how many.. I of course picked Green and Blue!!

That's from like an hour or two after I got them on so I know I didn't miss anything =) Good Luck you'll be fine..

Oh yea: The only things I should warn you about is, that a few hours after you get them on they will hurt really bad and you'll only be able to eat soft foods.. Raviolies were a big favorite for me!! Then every month you get them tightened and it will hurt for a couple of days so yea.... And, then I suggest you should buy dental wax.. It helps a lot because the braces will cut the inside of your mouth!! Bye!!Health Question & Answer

The back brackets that wrap around your teeth are usually the first ones you get, they basically take the pieces and try them on you which is kind of annoying, you bite down on this thing over and over before they find the right size and cement them on..
The other kind of brackets you will have in the front are just cemented onto the fronts of your teeth, it's a strange feeling and the cement tastes disgusting and sour, but it's not painful.. They hold your mouth open with this silly looking thing while they do it and then they blow warm air on your teeth to make it dry.. They also fix pieces onto the sides of the back brackets that will probably irritate your cheeks at first..
Then the ortho makes a thin wire that shapes to your mouth that they push into all the brackets, snaps on some bands are you're all set.. The whole process takes at least an hour though so it's kinda boring to be sitting there doing all that waiting..

Personally the worst part is coordinating your mouth over them at first, it's hard to get used to! Your jaws will probably be sore, especially when you bite down, so you should take some medicine an hour before you get them put on and then take more when you get home.. You'll probably just want to be on a liquid diet for a few days so you won't be so sore, and then comes the hard part - getting used to eating with braces! At first it feels totally disgusting and you may cut your lips up a little, but eventually you become a pro at it!
Getting them adjusted is similar but the first few times are the worst.. Be brave and stick to it and you will be fine and have gorgeous teeth in a few years.. Oh, and by tons of floss threaders so you don't get cavities between teeth..Health Question & Answer

First of all, it is not painful at all.. Just a bit of pressure, but it's nothing big..

First, they put silver metal bands on the back of your teeth.. They just wrap around the tooth and they are used to hold the wire in place..
Second, they lay you back in the chair and try to keep your teeth as dry as possible from your saliva.. They give you this thing that they will put in your mouth to help suck the saliva out when it gets too be too much.. The saliva will make putting the braces in harder.. It doesn't hurt at all, its just really annoying.. Your tongue gets super dry though >=/
Third, They put a gel like substance on your teeth.. They take the bracket, coat it with cement, and place it on your teeth.. Then they take this laser light and shine it on the bracket to make sure it is in place.. This laser light lights up the gel thats on your teeth.. Thats how they make sure the placement is right
Fourth, once all the brackets are placed on your teeth, they will take a metal wire and pop it on the brackets.. They may clip the ends off at the back of your mouth because it may be too long and poke you.. Make sure that if it is poking you, to tell them so they can fix it.. And viola! Braces..
Again, it does not hurt a bit when they put it on.. But afterwards, your mouth will be very sore for the next few days.. So I advise to eat soft things like soup, noodles, jello, and pudding.. And take some Advil to help ease the soreness..
Good luck =)Health Question & Answer

It really isn't painful at all, but it hurts for about three days after they're in.. And I mean painful hurting..

First thing is, they ask what color you want the bands to be.. Then they put some metal things in your mouth to push against your cheeks and lips so your mouth won't interfere with putting them in.. After heating up some glue, they put it on each of your teeth, then follows metal things that hold in the bands.. After they're all in, they attach the metal wires that align the teeth.. Then they add the bands to keep in the wires and you're all set!Health Question & Answer

idk about anyone else..
but all they do is "cement" the brackets onto your teeth
and fit a wire into them
it is not painful at all at first
but then your teeth get really sore and its really painful
for te first couple of days..
not trying to scare you or anything of course
just letting you know so you wont be suprised..Health Question & Answer
