Question: Braces help please!!!!!!!!!!.?
I wanna know how many appts.. after my first visit w/ the orthodontists will i get my braces.? Im 14 btw if the helps.. My teeth are crooked on tthe bottom row so if they'd have to pull a tooth will it make the process longer.? I only want bottom braces though becuz my top teeth are straight.. My first visit is 2wks from now.. also do they put the spacers on the first day you visit.? When you get your tooth pulled will it look messed up until you get your braces on or do they pull out your back teeth to make room.? also does the orthodontists pull the teeth when about to put on the braces that day or do you have to go to your dentists and get them pulled.? I really appreciate all those who helped i have waited years to get my smile fixed and went thru times of teasing about it.. im so ready 4 my braces!!!!!!!!!1Thnx..Health Question & Answer
Answers:
1) You go to your first apointment.. The orthodontist will check your teeth and tell you what will probably happen.. (price, if you need teeth pulled, about how many years, etc..) You might get x-rays and molds today.. The ortho gave me a choice of getting them today, or next appt.. I chose today to get it over with..
2) You get x-rays and molds.. The x-rays ae kinda fun, lol, and the molds aren't as bad as what people might tell you.. The taste is not unbearable.. The mold, by the way, incase you don't know, is a big chunky thing they put on your teethn this plate thing to take a mold of your teeth, lol..
3) You wil go to your ortho 3 weeks later and he will tell you everything.. Which teeth to get pulled, how many years, all that info..
4) If you need to get teeth pulled, you will go to your dentist and he will remove your teeth..
5) You will get your spacers.. I got them today.. Everyone says it kills but trust me, it doesn't.. Spacers (also known as "separators") are put in between your molars to make room for this metal that holds everything together (the braces).. It took one minutes for me and I got 8 of them.. Here is a pic of what they look like:

Don't worry they don't hurt at all..
6) One week after getting your spacers (or two weeks possibly) you will go in to get your spacers off and right after (on the same day) you get your spacers in..
Remember to avoid sticky foods or anything hard..
Before you get your braces remember to apply a lot of chapstick on your lips since they stretch it really wide..
also, your orthodontist will have the tooth pulled that is getting in the way, so there is not specific place where you get it pulled.. I got 4 of my first premolars out (4th tooth from your center teeth) Your orthodontist will send your dentist a letter and tell him/her everything.. Pulling teeth is no problem! Doesn't hurt! (Atleast not for me!) I am your age, so it'll maybe be the same..

I think you're worrying about it a little too much.. If you have to get teeth pulled, your dentist does it.. And yes, it will make the process longer.. It only takes a few seconds to put in spacers, so they'll probably do it on your first appointment.. You also have to get x-rays.. Your orthodontist will probably explain that to you when you go in for your first appointment.. It's kind of a long process, so be patient.. And believe me, once you have braces on, you want them off, lol.. So don't be in such a rush..Health Question & Answer

it only took me 3 visits till i got mine but that i because i had to get this wierd spike thing behind my teeth then after that i got the spacers and if you need spacers they put them on but it really depnds on the ortho they dont pull the teth until right before you get the braces on that appoinment and no they dont pull the back teeth that is what the spacers are for to make spaces between your back teeth and you may have to get the top one cause you may have an over bite it aint all about straightness it is also about bone structure everything depends you do get them pulled at the ortho no it will not make the process longer if they have to pull a tooth they do it right then and there when they are putting the braces on so well yea i hope i helpedHealth Question & Answer
