How long does it take to get used to braces?!
Question: How long does it take to get used to braces.?
i don't have them yet, but i'm getting them in less than 2 weeks.. i've heard it feels really uncomfortable..Health Question & Answer

its uncomfortable for a week or so.... you feel as if you cant close your mouth all the way.... your lips may be chapped a lot more often.. Invest in some wax for braces, at first it may give you sores or cuts on the underside of your lips and inner cheeks.... good luck.... and just keep your mind on the outcome of the braces!Health Question & Answer
It's going to be a little sore for the first week, but not bad.. Just take some advil and you'll be good.. If you had spacers before the braces, you're going to feel like you're on top of the world compared to those evil little plastic bands, haha..
Eating WILL be a bit tough to get used to, but not hard.. I just got my braces on in April and the first thing I ate was a double cheese burger;;; had NO problem with it, what so ever.. It did hurt to chew a little though..
And your lips make get a little dry from rubbing up against your braces, but it just depends.. I didn't have this problem..
Now whats going to suck is the Anchors;; the metal bands on your molars.. For a while, your tongue is going to get preeettttyyyy hurt from those things.. They suck, and make it hard to talk because you have to use your tonuge, and using your tongue will get it cut up a bit from it..

i have braces on right now.. when you first get them on it hurts very bad i am not going to lie.. the pain lasts about 3-5 days.. take advil it helps more then the rest of the drugs.. then when yoy go and get them tightened there is more pain but that only lasts about three days.. but it really is worth all the pain.. ohh yeah and my friend got her braces off she told me the worst pain of all is the retainer..Health Question & Answer

Usually 1 week or 5 days, take Advil to ease the pain though!
Crunched up ice, mashed anything, is good too :]]

My long lost nephew!
When I was about 11 I got the old-fashioned kind - they hammered them onto your teeth and they had sharp edges.. Even then it did not take long - a few days to a week.. Today I think they use glue - it is so much better.. The ideas listed above (wax,etc..) were true back in my day.. Good luck..

well for me it hurt for like 3 days then i go use to it and make sure not to run your tongue over your teeth cause i use to get my tongue stuck in my braces ouchHealth Question & Answer
