After about a week everything should stabilize and you may continue to eat all brace-safe foods (pretty much anything that isn't hard as a rock).. Orthodontists also recommend staying away from gum, though sugar-free gum seems to be fine with them.. I found that I could chew nearly all gum with my braces and it would not get stuck...... just the occasional trapped-below-the-lower-lip scene..
