basically you just slide them onto your teeth according to the package and wait for about 10-15 minutes.. usually after, i would brush my teeth because of the "slime.."
for a 14 year old, it all depends.. many times the gums can become very irritated and sensitive.. that happened with me and it was a bit painful for a few days.. it can go both ways, it really all depends on the person..
