resin-based materials or composite fillings tend to be sensitive to temperature after the procedure.. However, the intensity and frequency should subside.. If not, as you are describing as an "Intense Pain" that could only mean one thing- the filling is too high.. The solution- go back to the dentist and have the filling adjusted.. I'm afraid so.. I have the same problem with my front teeth.. I've three in a row, and it is driving me bananas.. Especially when something sweet hits it.. I swear by silver fillings which have never given me any trouble at all for years.. I wish they didn't use that composite filling.. See your dentist, he may be able to fix it..

Yes, it is abnormal......but with this type of filling unless the proper base was used, you can sometimes get these extrememly sensitive reactions........you need to call your dentist and let them know........Health Question & Answer
