Braces? Do they hurt???!
Question: Braces.? Do they hurt.?.?.?
I'm getting braces on in about a month and I'm really nervous.. I hate going to the dentist and having people poke around in my mouth, and I know that getting your braces on is a much more grueling process than getting a cavity filled.. If you have had braces on, does the procedure they use 2 put them on your teeth hurt, or does your mouth feel like crap for the first week or so.? Any advice would be greatly appreciated (I have to wear em for 2 years............ stupid crossbite)

When they put it on:
I have braces on.. When I got it on it felt like forever.. They glue on your teeth and put in wire through the brace.. Then you get the color.. It kind of hurts when they put braces in because they poke then wire through and stuff.. There is pressure when they put in the color and it may hurt..
The Pressure and if it hurts:
I remember when I tried eating breakfast the next morning and I broke down crying because of the pain.. I took a lot of pain relievers.. Then after whenever I get my braces tightened it hurts and has pressure..
Colors:
I suggest to stay away from yellow, bright red, and white:
yellow: it looks horrible in ones mouth
bright red: It would be bright,looks like your bleeding, and it looks horrible
white: When you eat the braces get dirty

The process itself doesn't hurt..
But after that, your teeth just become very sore, to the point you won't even want to bite..
As my cousin tells me, wait til 5-8 days to eat solid food.. For now, live off soup and ice cream.. If you do want to eat solids, cut them up in little bits and swallow..Health Question & Answer

yeah they do.. but after about a week, it kind of goes away.. then when you have to get them tightened again, it hurts for about 2 days.. i ate mashed potatoes the 1st week i had them....

only a little and they cut ur mouth at first so eat heaps of ice cream to numb ur mouth.. it doesnt hurt after uve had them put on, except for like half a day after every visit when they change the wire.. its not worth worrying and its worth it when they come offHealth Question & Answer
