Hey,
The assistant broke one of my brackets so I had to have it replaced two weeks ago.. First they will remove the arch wire so they can get to the affected bracket.. For me, the bracket was still connected to my tooth so they used plastic pliers to use pressure to pop the remaining glue between the bracket and the tooth.. It was uncomfortable, but didn't really hurt.. It was a lot of pressure on my tooth.. Then, she used a polisher/drill to remove the remaining glue from my tooth so she would have a clean surface to reattach the bracket.. She wiped my tooth down so it would be dry, put the glue on, put the bracket in place and waited for the orthodontist to approve the location.. He approved so she used an air dryer and special light to make the glue dry faster.. Then she reinstalled the arch wire and redid all the o-tyes on my brackets and I was good to go.. It took about a half hour.. Good luck, I was really nervous, but it was all okay! One other thing I can think of, if you've made it to the square thicker arch wire, they might bump you back down to the round smaller arch wire.. That is why happened to me and when I asked, they said that it was to let the tooth readjust to the new position of the bracket.. GOOD LUCK!Health Question & Answer

If you remember that very first day of braces when they glued your brackets on and put the wires through, it will be similar to then..

First they will remove the original bracket from the wire, and they'll remove all the moisture from the tooth it's supposed to be on, then they'll put the bitter glue on the tooth.. Once they put the new bracket on, they will reinsert the wire i think.. Anyways, you probably wont feel too much pain except for when they remove the original bracket, that will sting, but only for a second or two..
