Answers:
First, its Dental Hygienist, not Hygentist..
In most states, you need an Associates or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college with an accredited Dental Hygiene program.. You will need to take a variety of courses, including the basic prereqs (algebra, statistics, english, psych) as well as prerequisite science courses, including Chemistry, Microbiology, and Anatomy and Physiology..
Most Hygiene programs are very competative.. I was one of only 40 students accepted to my program last year.. My school requires excellent grades (Anything below a B is unnacceptable to them) to be admitted, and once admitted, you are required to keep above a 73 average in ALL classes to stay in the program..
Good Luck.. I have 9 months left before I graduate and start my career as a Dental Hygienist, and I LOVE it.. It is a fantastic field to be in..Health Question & Answer
