Calling all dentists or dental technicians. There seems to be a hole in my tooth but its not a cavity.?!

Question: Calling all dentists or dental technicians. There seems to be a hole in my tooth but its not a cavity..?
The tooth in question is in the lower jaw, its the right tooth from my point of view of the two front teeth. There is a space or a hole or something in between the tooth and the gumline. Its on the inside of the mouth. I can't see it either so I'm just going by touch here. I have long nails and my nail can kinda poke in. Its not a cavity because its not tender or painul and I really couldn't guess what it is. It hasn't given me any problems and I've had it for years so I don't really want to spend money on a dentist I just wanna know what it is. Health Question & Answer

Answers:
A 'cavity' is just that a 'hole' it can be caused by decay (dental caries) or by some sort of mechanical action or occlusion problem....
So, whatever caused it, doesn't always matter, but still should be fixed....Health Question & Answer
