Question: I had my wisdom teeth extracted 2 days ago and I want to know when I'll be able to eat solid foods.?
Answers:
The big problem with eating solid foods is that you're not used to having holes back there and you don't want to get things stuck in them or to tear them open or cause them trauma that is painful and keeps them from healing quickly. Honestly, it's a comfort thing. When I had mine extracted I couldn't open my mouth very far at all because I was so swollen that I couldn't really eat solid foods for about a week. It's just the way that I healed. My brother was eating solid foods the day after he got them taken out. What you eat isn't nearly as important as not spitting or sucking through a straw for the first few days. Dry sockets are probably the most painful experience in the world. If you're really worried about it then give your dentist a call and ask about what he recommends, most of the time they will send you home with a handout of instructions with their specific details on it. Hope you feel better. Getting your wisdom teeth out kind of bites.Health Question & Answer
