it could be the tooth next to it, my dentist told me a lot of the time when you get a root canal it will effect the health of the tooth next to it and you may end up needing one on the other tooth

Not normal...in fact impossible. Even a 'botched' root canal devitalizes the tooth. I would be considering another tooth. Consider seeking the advice of an endodontist. Good LuckHealth Question & Answer
