What have I done to my Jaw?!

Question: What have I done to my Jaw.?
What have I done to my Jaw.?
Amonth ago my jaw started clicking when i opened my mouth or moved it side to side then one day i opened it and it locked then the following evening it locked again and it hurt after wards for a while it locked three more times the following day and is constantly clicking when i move it and also hurts a bit

Then it has started with a grinding/grating noise when i move my jaw sideways as well as a popping sort of clicking noise but i can open it as wide as usual it used to just be n the left side but today i have noticed aching and grinding on the right side of my jaw too.
i was thinkng it culd be my wisdom teeth but it didnt start off as a tooth or mouth ache but since last nite my right back tooth started aching and my whole jaw aches now but not all the time just from time to time. When i eat anysort of food it clicks and often locks.
also when pressure is applied to tmj joint and i try to open it it locks. also when i look down and try to open it, and when im lying on my back and i try to open it, it locks.
anyone know what culd be wrong.?
It constantly aches and clicks, when it locks i move my bottom jaw to the right then to the middle (when it clicks when it goes out and back again its unlocked)
Often I try to open it and it locks and when i try to move my bottom jaw out and back in again(using my muscles) i hear a sort of airy, watery sound and it takes a long time to get unlocked again
I went to the doctors and they sed go to the dentists so im waiting for that appointment.
any help wuld be realli appreciated
thanks xxHealth Question & Answer

Hello...While it could be that you have a wisdom tooth issue, I suspect that it's entirely something else...The symptoms you describe lead me to feel you have an issue with the jaw joint and that issue could be you have damaged or possibly even torn the tissue that lines the jaw joint socket. It sometimes happens that the tissue that lines the jaw joint socket (Meniscus) gets detached at the edge of the socket and has a tendency to roll up in the socket area in much the same way a sock will work it's way down into your shoe. If that's the case it can be reattached...If it's only injured through some abnormal jaw movement other types of treatments can be devised to allow it to heal. In any event you need an Xray that will allow the DDS to properly examine the joint...I hope your seeing a DDS Oral Surgeon or a DDS with speciality training in treating TMJ problems. Good luck and I wish you well.Health Question & Answer

See your dentist. It seems to be TMJ. Good luck, btw, TMJ is very curable.Health Question & Answer
