Hello...Ok, I suspect that your referring to Nitrous Oxide when you ask about gas and air...the answer is yes, you can be given the nitrous and that could be all you would need providing the filing is very shallow. If it's not you will also need a little injection of anesthetic...and that should not be a painful experience...you will feel some pressure as the injection is placed, but pain shouldn't be a factor. Some area s have trauma clinics where if you are scared of dentists they will give you something that doesnt actually knock you out but you are spaced out so much you are totally unaware of whats happening but as a dental coward i still say get the jab it dont hurt honest and its available locally without hunting these people down, go on bite the bullet!!!Health Question & Answer
