he has to pull it out since that's what you want. You'll need to sign a paper saying you don't want the root canal. but just make sure that other wisdom teeth is growing fine not side ways, that might need to be pulled out. it's a little harder to do root canals on wisdom teeth but it can be done(just letting you know for later.) but in the end it's your choice.Health Question & Answer

Anyone providing a service has the legal right to refuse you any services (as long as it isn't based on discrimination, etc). So yes, your dentist can refuse to pull the tooth, especially if he thinks that it is not the best method of treatment.

It is always possible to get a second opinion though. Go to another dentist or two to see if they agree with the root canal or pulling the tooth. Health Question & Answer

it is their obligation to offer the best course of treatment and an alternative. Pulling a tooth is much cheaper than a root canal and crown and any dentist knows this and understands that sometimes people just can't afford it. If he refuses to remove the tooth you can report him. That being said and all I've always recommended to patients at my practice that if there is any way to keep the tooth in their mouth then they should try to do it. Losing teeth means later losing the bone were the tooth once was.. loss a few teeth and next thing you know your jaw/face looks different.Health Question & Answer

I was in the same situation. Depending how old you are, they'll try and talk you out of pulling it for fear that the rest of your teeth will grow toward the hole to fill the space and become crooked. I had mine pulled around twelve years ago with no problems at all. My tooth was three from the back.

I believe that you have the right to say no to the expensive root canal and yes to the easy tooth pulling if you want. They can't force you into anything. If they try, find another dentist.Health Question & Answer

its not that he has to pull it out its that he cant do a root canal treatment without your consent. but he doesnt have to pull the tooth either. he can say he didnt think it was appropriate and refer you to another dentist but he cant legally do the root canal treatment without ur consentHealth Question & Answer

No, he can refuse to pull it. And you have the right to go to a different dentist.Health Question & Answer

If your dentist isn't listening to you - you need to find a new dentist.Health Question & Answer
