My sister has a hole in the side of her tooth?!

Question: My sister has a hole in the side of her tooth.?
My sister (14) had fillings in about 4 of her back teeth. They weren't put in very well and they all eventually fell out. This was quite a while ago and the dentist didn't see a reason to replace the fillings but she has just found a hole in the side of one of her back teeth.
She says it isnt painful but i'm not surprised as she does eat alot of rubbish.
Does she need to go and see the dentist.? Do you think its really serious.?

Please help, everything in our lives seems to be going wrong, one thing after another.
Thanks.Health Question & Answer

If your sister has a hole in her toth if it hurts or not then it needs to be filled otherwise decay we form and then she will be in pain and the hole will only get bigger meaning bigger filling! and im sure she doesnt want that. Go back to your dentist he cant turn her away if she has a holeHealth Question & Answer

Yeah, she should go see a different dentist! You need the fillings there to help protect the nerves of the teeth. The filling acts as protection from bacteria. Without it, bacteria have an easier access to the inside of the tooth and can effortlessly cause decay. Uncontrolled decay can eventually lead to her having a root canal, which is no fun. Just because she isn't experiencing pain doesn't mean that her teeth aren't in bad shape.Health Question & Answer

Depends on how deep it is. If it was a hole straight through to her root she'd be in dire pain, so I'm guessing it's just a "pit" (indentation).

It's still a perfect place for bacteria to grow, and she's asking for cavities by not having it looked at. The original dentist should replace it free of charge though - I had fillings in and they've never fallen out 10 years later.Health Question & Answer

She really needs to see a dentist, floss and brush more.

Those fillings either need replacement or she needs a bridge., or something. First things first dentist/orthodontist.Health Question & Answer

You should definitely go see a dentist as its probably a cavity or something a bit more serious. I hope your life gets better :DHealth Question & Answer

It should be filled because if foreign things get in there then they may cause an infection. It should definitely be filled if she wants it to last long.Health Question & Answer

she has a cavity that needs to be cleaned and filled or else she may eventually lose the tooth.Health Question & Answer
