Temporary filling has fallen out - what do I do?!
Question: Temporary filling has fallen out - what do I do.?
I had a tooth which the dentist filled, but still had some decay in it. I got an abcess, so an emergency dentist released the pressure from my tooth, removed my nerve and gave me a temporary filling. She said I'd have to have a root canal when it was possible. The temporary filling has now fallen out and I can't get a dentist appointment until Tuesday. Can I eat on it.? It's just a big hole.Health Question & Answer

Go to the pharmacy and get some temporary filling material and fix it yourself - at least until you can get to the dentist. I believe it goes under the name of DenTek. This product will form a temporary hard filling which will allow you to eat and what not. I've used it in the past and it usually holds up for 2-3 days and then needs to be done again.
