How hard is it to become a dentist?!

Question: How hard is it to become a dentist.?
Some people say you have to take numeral exams before you can get accepted into a dentistry school. I am a 11th grader in high school. I already know what I want to be. But I need some guidance. My grades are mostly Cs. But I still can do better. Is working harder in school worth all the trouble.? How much do dentists truly earn.? How hard are the exams that somebody has to take.? Is there anybody out there who knows what they are talking about, and is ready to give me the answers to these questions.?Health Question & Answer

Unless you are driven, you aren't going to make it in dentistry. First you need to make the grades to get into college, then after studying and making GREAT grades for 3-4 years you might be accepted into a dental school [you have to do well on the dental aptitude test as well as in the interview]. Once in school, you will have to study your butt off as the courses are really hard, but unless you plan to specialize you can get by with C's and maybe even a few D's. After 4 years of that, you will graduate with a degree and have to take a state dental board, and pass that, before you can see patients in the state where you want to work. Then you will either work for someone, go into the armed services, or maybe even graduate school so you can specialize. If your really fortunate and aren't in debt too badly...which is unlikely since dental school cost many $$$$$$, then you can set up your own practice. Equipment will set you back another bunch of $$$. By this time you'llll be 25-28 years old. Is it worth it.? You have to decide, but I'm glad I did it and couldn't be happier. In present day $$ you'll make between $125,000-$225,000 for all of your trouble.Health Question & Answer

its very hard i think. having to take care of such teeth in a small space. and before being able to be a certified dentist one should attain quite an experience.Health Question & Answer

I am in high school and I get pretty good marks. I really want to be a dentist!

Anyways, it's worth every single second you spend in the school IF you work, work, work harder especially in high school. Like do your homework on time, go to class on time.....etc.

I have never took exams before because I am new to high school so that means I am a freshman. But I am sure that you will become a great dentist if you work really hard.

Dentist usually make $100 00 to $200 000. Depends on the state or province you live in.

Of course, you have to take exams in university or college because people in the dental school need to know how well you are doing in education and how ready you are to go to dental school. Dental school is such a pain but it is worth it.

I love that!Health Question & Answer

Honestly, every rewarding career out there is "hard" to get into and requires a lot of work and dedication. Dentistry is no exception. If you want to go to college where the acceptance grades are 60%, then be my guest. You will end up going into a field with no possibility of growth (e.g. dental hygienist, paramedic).

With that being said, I think that you should pursue the career that you are passionate about, and you implied that you want to be a dentist. If you want it, then it is worth it.

You have to complete at least 8 years of education. Before applying to dental school, you have to complete 4 years of university level pre-dental courses. In addition to completing undergraduate courses, dental school applicants must pass the Dental Admission Test (DAT). The admission to dental school is competitive, so be prepared to work insanely hard to get a high score in addition to excelling in your courses.

So, personally I think that you should start working to your potential and become a dentist. You earn over 100 000 dollars in your field, with potential to make more if you specialize (e.g. orthodontics, cosmetic dentistry). The only downside--having to see people endure pain and dealing with people in an upset mood on a regular basis.Health Question & Answer
