Dude, I'm going through the same thing. I got my lower braces today (I got my upper ones a few months ago) and for some reason the hurt more then last time. :-/ I took a nap, thinking I could sleep off the pain, but it was still there when I woke up. But just use some Orajel (the non-medicated kind, which I tried earlier and it doesn't help) and take some aspirin. And I picked up a tip from one of my mom's co-workers today, who said laying a washcloth with warm water helps. She was right, it does help. But until you get completely used to it in a day or so, just distract yourself with other random things, like computer games or sorting socks. =)Health Question & Answer

take pain meds with anti inflammatory before you go to the dentist. as far as them being new it will take some time. for the future adjustments take aleve or something before the visit. talk with the dentist.Health Question & Answer
