Why doesn't my upper lip cover my front teeth?!

Question: Why doesn't my upper lip cover my front teeth.?
if you look at me in normal face expression, you can clearly see a little more than half of my two front teeth.

is there some dental term for this.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
my son had that before braces. He had a really bad overbite which caused his upper lip to extend outward a little rather than laying flat down on top of his teeth because your lip is not "made" to be long enough to extend out and then down over your teeth in then leaves part of your teeth uncovered. He would over extend his bottom lip (chin) to try to make up for the difference on the top to be able to completely close his lips together. He has had his braces for a year and half now and its better and so is his self esteem. Cost about 4500. or 2400. with insurance but well worth it and you can get on a payment plan

hhmmm... im not real sure then. If your teeth are straight and you had braces then I guess its not what I thought. Maybe you just have small lips or large teeth/gums. No matter what im sure its something you are aware of but most other people probably wouldnt even notice. I read a little on it and the only thing I could find was that people with say, a larger lower jaw than upper jaw (or opposite) have problems closing there lips together because of how uneven the 2 jaw bones were. So take a look at your profile... does either your lower or upper jaw sit out further than the other.?Health Question & Answer
