I got mine in July. It doesn't hurt at all. The orthodontist just glues the brackets on and after that they slide a wire through the brackets. There's no drilling or anything. Trust me. A cleaning at the dentist could be considered scay compared to getting braces on.

However, after a couple of hours your teeth will start hurting. This is only because braces make your teeth mobile (which means you're teeth need to get used to slowly moving). You can take normal pain killers for this. For al these years your teeth have stayed in place, so naturally it'll kind of hurt to eat because it's like all your teeth are loose (but they're technically not)

After a few days, you will no longer feel pain because your teeth will get used to being mobile, so no fear. It'll just bug you for the first few days because you're not used to it.

I've had mine for only two months and I forget that I even have them on. I adjusted to them after about a week. I didn't take any painkillers for the pain so I complained all the time. But I'm not even conscious of them anymore. You'll get used to them too!Health Question & Answer

When you get your braces on, they don't hurt. It feels VERRYYY awkward once you look in the mirror for the first time, though. After a couple of hours, though, it will hurt very badly (just very sore) and will be ten times worse the second day. This soreness lasts about a week, and then you'll be good to go. Just eat a lot of soup, mashed potatoes, yogurt, ice cream, and soft foods. No hard or crunchy things.

As for medication, you might want to take a couple of Tylenol right after you get them, and you should also take the little pill the orthodontist gave you (if he gave you one) to make your mouth drier. A dry mouth means less work to put the braces on.

I have had mine for just over a year. Don't worry- braces aren't all that bad and, if you are nervous, don't be. They aren't a big deal at ALL.

GOOD LUCK!!Health Question & Answer

no if you have seperaters they hurt soooooooooo much but when they are taken out and the braces are put in it fells really good.
but it really depends what sort of teeth you have. if you have really bad teeth (i mean really bad, like on ther mouth cancer add for smoking) they hurt more than if you have straighter (but not too straight).

first they put glue or something on your teeth (after cleaning them) and then they stick the brackets (little metal things that hold the wire) then the wire and eventually the little coloured bands (yay you get to choose the colour)

my dentist said (if they hurt) suck or ice but don't chew, eat icecream, but don't take nurofen take panadol.

i hpe it won't hurt you (not likely to) and when you get them off your teeth will look fab.Health Question & Answer

It won't hurt as much at first, but a little bit afterwords, your mouth gets really sore, to the point where you feel discomfort closing it. But the process of putting them on isn't as bad as you would think. But sometimes, later on, they will tighten them which will hurt in about 45 minutes, so eat as soon as you get home.
Hope this helped, I went through the same thing you did (and still am).Health Question & Answer

no it doesn't hurt, u just have to keep ur mouth open and they put a plastic thing inside it to keep it open. they apply the glue, brakets and wires. it dosn't hurt at all though. your mouth may be sore the few days following though, so just takw ibprophen if it does. no need to worry at all though. it's all good.Health Question & Answer

Nah getting them didn't hurt.

However, for me my teeth ached very bad for about a week. The first few days I ate liquid only soups (like broth and stuff).
And I slept alot for the first two days.

But it's different for everyone. Some people don't feel pain at all afterwards. Health Question & Answer

Well....for me after about 30 min. my teeth where so sore! i could barley talk, so they put this really annoying wind or air tube in ur mouth that makes ur mouth super duper dry ...man was that a pain. then they had to put this like metal thing-a-ma-bober on my "moler's"...i started to cry, they hurt me too...so with that all said i "Personally" feel that when u first get them on u will "hate" them...maybe take some asprin. hope i helped! : )

It doesn't hurt to have them put on, but I am going to be honest with you the next day your mouth will be sore and tender. But that only lasts a couple of days, Then when you get them off you will have a beautiful smile. Good luck to you.Health Question & Answer

No, they do not hurt. The only part that hurts is when you worry so much, your mentally hurting yourself. Stop worrying so much. Why worry.? Your going to get braces whether they hurt or not so why worry.?Health Question & Answer
