Hi, I'm so sorry to hear you're getting braces. But, don't worry no need to be afraid. I got my braces on 3 years ago. Yep, THREE!! If memory serves me well right after you get them on they don't hurt. Don't be fooled it'll take anywhere from 3-6 hours for you to notice the change. It might just hurt a lot but, I can remember the feeling of my teeth feeling pulled out of my mouth. Take tylenol, eat pudding, no chewing. Within 3 days you should be ready to test out your new friends. I hope your procedure goes well and that the pain is minimal!!

Hope you have a perfect smile soon!!

EDIT: The procedure itself didn't hurt that much to my recollection. It was uncomfortable do to the mouth being open for so long. Nothing painful just a lot of quiet wincing and internal 'Ow!'s. As for spacers I have no idea why people say these hurt. I have had maybe.. 12.? 14 spacers in my mouth and never have they hurt at all.Health Question & Answer

oh my god! im terrified cuz ive asked qs abotu braces on here like 10000000 times and everyone said they hurt really bad for like 2 weeks its like your teeth are all loose and sore. it sucks. and every month your gonna have to go back to the ortho and get your brackets tightened and its gonna hurt after getting them so... thats that.

and you dont even wanna think of what you have to wear before the actual braces! spacers. and omg everyone says they like hurt your mouth FOREVER and like with those on you cant eat anything cuz itll hurt biting on stuff with spacers... eeeeeeeek... *shiver* THIS PROCESS (SPACERS) HURT THE MOST!)

and people say that when you get them their gonna put this mouth opener to keep your lips away so that they can see and stick the brackets on. well people say that it is very uncomfortable to stay with your mouth open like that for like 1 hour and 30 minutes while they put it on. *shivers*

so also your going to be staying in a chair for like 1 hour so make sure you wear something comfortable.

good thing is that you get to choose the color of the bands that go on the brackets.

GOOD LUCK! hope everything goes well with your teeth. and enjoy your teeth after the braces thing is done. its really worth it. they might cost a lot but afterwards, your teeth are perfect and you wont have to be embarrased to smile! youll be smiling all day after they are off and when they are off you can slide your tounge on your teeth and feel smooth no metal...

and also, once you get braces put on, there is no going back and no more candy or gum or junk food so... better make sure you enjoy them all now while you can cuz once you have those brackets stuck to your teeth, all those will be gone because itll get stuck in your braces... so... enjoy the good food now!

well i think if your going to get braces. might as well know everything that your gonna have to get so... just be aware of it.

hope i helped! :)

It's pretty painful the first week, yes, and every time you get them tightened it will hurt too but only for a little bit. When I first got mine on I couldn't eat solid food for a day or two but eating it carefully the first week is just fine. After that you won't feel a thing!Health Question & Answer
