A question for people who have/had BRACES?!

Hi, and I'm sorry to hear your getting braces -you're not alone-. Well, I myself can't tell you how long you'll have braces many factors play into it one is the severity: I had a number of problems with my teeth and I'm in my 3rd year of braces. Another is contributing factors: the big reason behind my 3 years of braces was what they call a 'tongue-thruster' I wasn't correctly using my mouth. I now go to a speech pathologist who has worked wonders in a matter of 2 months. You may have a contributing speech problem that may not be recognized until later on. A third is: rubberbands. If they give you rubberbands WEAR THEM. It doesn't matter if it's Days, Night, 12 hours, or 24 hours wear those rubberbands whenever you have to this will speed the process along so much if you do. But, you may not require them.

Don't worry. braces aren't some catastrophic thing that will end your life. Most kids today -I'd guess well over 50%- have/ need braces. You will hate them at first but, after 3 years they don't bother me; I don't give them a second look. You'll survive. Hope I helped.

It will all depend on how fast your teeth move and if you follow your orthodontist's instructions closely. There are techiniques that can be done to move them faster such as a power chain that the orthodontist can use. But let the orthodontist make the decision as to when you need that. I suggest leaving them on as long as he/she suggests and then once you get them off wearing your retainer every day as instructed. It will all depend on how closely you follow your orthodontist's instructions as to how long you will have to wear braces. In the mean time you can make it fun by picking different color elastics each month depending on your taste in colors. Such as school colors, favorite team colors, favorite colors, or if you do not prefer a color you can get clear. Change up every month to keep it from getting boring. It really depends on the person.

Usually it ranges from 6 months-4 years. But the most common is 2 years. I had mine for about 1 3/4 years. All people are different and some take more time to get the perfect, straight smile.Health Question & Answer

Depends on the person. I had only a slight overbite and i had to wear my braces for a little over a year and a half. Im guessing if you have REALLY crooked teeth you've got 3 to 4 years to wear them.Health Question & Answer
