Cavity Protection? lol?!

Question: Cavity Protection.? lol.?
This is a weird question, but i thought of it last night as i was brusing my teeth. Does Cavity protection toothpaste actually work.? And i might as well ask another xD Whats the best kind of toothpaste for your teeth.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
The amount of fluoride in over the counter toothpastes really isn't very much. There are prescription toothpastes with higher concentrations for cases where that is necessary.

Your teeth won't become discolored from swallowing toothpaste. In a small child they'd have to eat whole tubes of toothpaste for that to happen. In anyone over 13 years, the teeth are formed and there is no way for the fluoride systemically to stain the teeth.

The best way to avoid decay and gum problems is to brush til the teeth feel shiny and to floss daily. You really don't ever NEED to use toothpaste. Of course Colgate and P&G want us to think we do.

Avoiding juices and sports drinks between meals is prolly the best way to prevent decay. Water or unsweetened tea between meals, please.Health Question & Answer

sergiolacoste,
It is not a weird question at all! The answer to your question is yes. Cavity-protection toothpaste really does work, or it wouldn't be on the market! Many of these toothpastes contain fluoride which is essential for preventing decay and keeping your teeth healthy. If you do not use a toothpaste that contains fluoride, I highly recommend you consider changing your toothpaste as fluoride really does help keep your teeth free from plaque. Too much fluoride, however, can lead to a condition called fluorosis, which is basically damaged tooth enamel which can leave brown or gray marks on the teeth - not pleasant! - so make sure you don't swallow your toothpaste when using, and always rinse your mouth out with water afterwards.

Good luck!Health Question & Answer
