Wisdom teeth....wise advice......................!

Question: Wisdom teeth....wise advice.......................?
(My questions go from one end of the spectrum to the other tonight, I apologize) I am getting my wisdom teeth taken out on Friday, which is my birthday..Sounds like I am a glutton for punishment, huh.? Well, lucky for me, ha ha, that is the only available appointment. What am I getting into, how bad is it gonna be, what foods can I eat, will I get medicine, what kind.? Reassure me friends, that I won't keel over. I am so nervous :o(

P.s I believe they are getting cut out.

Please try to be calm about this procedure.

It's obviously been recommended for you for very good reasons, so you need to look to after you have had the op. Keep reminding yourself of the reasons why you are having this done, and look forward to the benefits you will gain; your mouth will be pain-free, no more taking large amounts of pain relief, the joy of knowing your tooth ache will not return!

There is no reason for you to keel over, as you put it. Dental procedures nowadays are so very good, pain relief is so effective too, and you should be reassured that you will be well cared for and supported during the whole treatment, and during the recovery period afterwards.

Good luck for Friday, all will be well and it is worth the little discomfort you will feel to know that the source of your pain is gone forever. Last but by no means least, happy birthday!!! Health Question & Answer

Your oral surgeon should have gone over this with you already. Each person will have a different experience but-I was told to eat soft foods, don't smoke or drink through a straw and given tylenol with codeine for the pain.
I did as I was told and still got a dry socket in one tooth. It was pretty painful even with drugs but the doc gave me a mouthwash to flush it out with and that helped a lot. I was able to go on vacation and enjoy myself.
I think if I had to do it again I would stay with only liquids-soup, jello etc. though they said that wasn't the problem. But all in all, the post-op period was still less painful than when the teeth were in.
Best of luck to you.Health Question & Answer

well odontectomy or the removal of impacted tooth is just like a normal tooth extraction except that incision of the gums and alveolar bone reduction are done to remove the teeth. It usually takes an hour and a half to perform this surgery.you will be given non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs and antibiotics if needed. Soft diet and ice packs will be advised. The pain and discomfort will be over in no time good luck honey!Health Question & Answer

Honestly its not that big of a deal. They will give you strong pain killers which I never even used. I recommend eating ice cream, popsicles, milk shakes, mashed potatoes, and eggs :) good luck!Health Question & Answer
