I'm not saying that this is her case but my gums got terribly inflamed in my early pregnancy. At my 3rd dr. appointment I had a terrible problem that was actually so bad that I could not eat. I was diagnosed with having acidosis. I could not eat or drink anything that had acid. Orange juice, tomatoes, soft drinks, etc.etc. I later was diagnosed with gestational diabetes which explains my having acidosis. But your daughter just may have sensitive gums. I would recommend buying her a water pik and starting out on a low setting. also, I used biotene mouthwash when I was pregnant and it helped so much with the swelling and pain. Its over the counter and I felt almost instant relief whenever I used it. My symptoms seemed to decline after I started using it also but did not totally go away until after my son was born.. also, it could be an allergy to toothpaste. I found that I cannot use any flavored toothpaste especially the cinnamon kindHealth Question & Answer

i was 20 when my gums imflamed i always had plaque build up. but when my gums started bleeding i was so depressed i was scared to even talk cuz i never knew if they were bleeding; i went to the dentist and i started to make reg appointments im talking about like 4-5 times a month for like 3 months!!!!!!! they did deep cleaning. i got listerine tooth paste and mouth wash. i brushed once with a nomal tooth brush and the 2nd time with a electric tooth brush and the dentist said to massage my gums with it. it breaks up the plaque underneth the gum. though out the day tell her to wash her mouth with salt water. inflamed gums can be almost from anything. kissing, tumbsucking, not brushing rite, not flossing, and even from not rinsing rite, and yes its possiable she got it from her parents. but yes it can be cured. my gums are just going down and its been about 7 months put the bleeding stopped with in one month of deep cleaning. my gums arent so red but some spots they are. the plaque is almost all gone. it takes time but she must be willing to do all the above. well good luckHealth Question & Answer

There could be a number of things that could cause this, maybe brushing to hard, or just a wrong kind of toothpaste, too much mouthwash, spicy foods, i had inflamed gums once after i used a home tooth whitening kit..i would suggest consulting your dentist though..Health Question & Answer
