don't worry, after like a week it stops hurting, but then when you go back to the dentist and have the wire tightened it starts to hurt again....oh the joys of having a brace =) =)
seriously though, try taking a painkiller and only eat soft food (bread and yoghurt are good)

Yes, that's normal!! I believe for the first two weeks they will hurt and bother you, just take advil or some kind of pain medicine that would help a lot :-) But don't worry it will get better. I just got my braces about a month ago, and nothing bothers me anymore. The first two weeks you won't be able to chew absolutely nothing but stick with mash potatoes and soft foods. well my best friend has braces, and just got them maybe 2 or so weeks ago. and she said her teeth KILLED for the first week

Yes the first week when you get them they can feel very uncomfortable, but try to get used to them and hopefully they wont hurt.
