Im freakin out cuz i have 6 cavities..and boy do i have questions!!?!

Question: Im freakin out cuz i have 6 cavities..and boy do i have questions!!.?
so i was at the dentists office getting my teeth cleaned and i complained about a toothache i have while eating foods on my tooth which already has filling. So she took the xrays, came back and told me i have 6 cavities! at that point...im freakin out!!!! cuz i was never supposed to have cavities, i hate sweets, but i have been chewing gum like someone drinks water. i have been drinking 4-5 cans of soda a day SOMETIMES...but that still wayy more than i should be. i dont brush before bed, but i do in the mornings, and sometimes if i decide to take a shower in the evening. Now, after I get the fill, what are the chances of my teeth falling out..or getting worse.? How can i avoid getting more cavities, and avoid them from the ones i already have from getting worse.? how am i gonna manage to get them all filled at the same time, and will i be drowsy from all the anesthetic.? will my mouth be numb like it was when i got my cavity filled (except this time its 6!!.?)

please help me..im freaking outtttt!!!!!Health Question & Answer

Answers:
1. It shouldn't be too involved if the cavities are not deep enough to require Root Canal Treatment.

You should not have to worry about your teeth falling out at this point, but you will have to do your part.

2. Once you get the teeth filled, make sure your oral hygiene improves.

3. You have brush AND floss . Just getting the fillings is not the solution. You have to keep the margins of the fillings clean. Otherwise, the rest of the tooth can still get decayed underneath.

That is what has happened in this case.

You HAVE to brush and floss before going to bed at night.

4. The amount of saliva gets reduced when you fall asleep. Therefore, you do not get the regular washing effect.

That is why if you go to sleep with unclean mouth, the damage will be the most.

5. Soda (regular or diet) or any carbonated drink produces Carbonic Acid in your mouth. So, basically you are bathing your teeth in acid.

......and you are wondering what went wrong .?.?

6. Remember, soda also causes osteoporosis.

7. Even if you chew sugarless gums, your teeth constantly flex resulting in the leakage of the existing fillings.

8. I don't think your dentist will fill all the cavities at the same time, unless those are all in the same area.

9. You will not be drowsy from the regular dental anesthetic.

10. Yes, your mouth will be numb. The dentist will have to numb the area up. Otherwise, you will feel the drill and it will be uncomfortable.

11. Again, I don't think all 6 fillings will be done in 1 visit.

12. You can ask your dentist about her plans to tackle the problem.

Hope this helped:)

Good luck !!Health Question & Answer

Wow - and you wonder why your teeth are having problems, soda rots your teeth, it is an acid. Most gum is bad for your teeth, and start brushing your teeth in the evening and morning and after meals. Start using mouth wash in the morning and evening as well and floss before you go to bed. Root canals are over 1000 $ each and you are heading towared at least 6 now.Health Question & Answer

*Well you need to brush every morning and night.
*Flossing and mouthwash makes an amazing difference.
*Don't drink or eat too many sweets. -its not good for your entire body.
*You will be numb but it will go away just like when you got the anesthetics the first time.
*You will think brushing, flossing ect. and all this is a waist of time but its not!
*brushing, flossing ect. dont take as long as you think it will
*Take care of your mouth you wont have teeth if you keep up your habbits.

You may need to have more than one appt. to get all your teeth filled.

To avoid getting more cavities, limit the soft drinks and sugary gum and brush/floss your teeth in the morning AND AT NIGHT. Get all that food off your teeth before you go to bed. A fluoride rinse like ACT may help, too.Health Question & Answer

soda has acid and it is ripping through your teeth muscles.see atleast u found out early..i did not know i had a cavity and when i went to the dentist he said that if i would have waited any longer i would have gotten a root canal. Trust me you will not get drowsy from all the anesthetic..Health Question & Answer

its all the soda and not brushing ur teeth at night
limit ur soda to one can a week
brush morning and night
if the gum has too much sugar than thats a problem
soda prevents ur body from absorbing calcium
so if you dont break these habbits ur teeth will get worseHealth Question & Answer

WOW you had it coming Health Question & Answer

Ok, aren't you supposed to brush your teeth at LEAST twice a day.?

And aren't you taught to do this at a young age (2-4 yrs old and 5 at the latest).?

Hm..I agree with the above, you had it coming.

Seeing as you have to be at least 13 to go on yahoo answers you are 13+ years, right.? Doesn't that mean that you (are supposed to) know how to brush your teeth.?

What goes around comes around and this time its bad dental hygiene to many cavities!

Good luck, and sorry if it was mean cause I tend to do that w/ out realizing...a lot.

hehe, well shave down on the gum!Health Question & Answer

It depends on your dentist, as far as the fillings. My dentist did mine in 3 trips (I was 16 I believe, and had not been to a dentist in nearly 6 years - 7 fillings I needed!).

Your teeth will not fall out if you just take care of them. Brush at least twice a day - once in the morning after breakfast, and once before bed. Make sure that you brush before bed especially. All the food and drinks you've had throughout the day that had any sugar will have time to work into your teeth, and therefore creating even more cavities. If you have a sugary drink or food, at least rinse your mouth well (you don't want to brush TOO much), to wash away anything that might be leftover.

Most importantly - FLOSS! I know, you don't want to, and I never did either, but you would be amazed at all the nastiness that comes out from between your teeth for just one day. Do you really want that sitting in there like that.?

Cavities are not your only worry either - chances are, you may have gingivitis as well, and not even know it - many people do. Brushing and flossing properly can help prevent that as well as cavities.

Basically, take care of them better and you will be fine. Good luck!Health Question & Answer

for avoiding having the cavities you have to maintain good oral hygeine. to start with brushing at night is very important.you should not miss it. you can use fluoridated tooth paste and fluoridated mouthwash. you can get all the filings filled at one time. local anaesthesia does not make you sleepy. for more information on cavities you can visit following link

about all the anesthetic, stuff like that, ask your dentist!
his answer will beat anybody elses here on the internet.
and for not getting cavaties:
brush your teeth-day AND night. good. it takes me 2min. or more.
also, cut down on the sodas. i know, they are absolutly amazing. haha. i am tempted all day to drink them.
like, for breakfast-have juice or milk. not soda.
lunch- you can have one. but try to make it a treat. just every once in a while. otherwise, have tea, juice water.
dinner- have another if you want.?
thats 2.
if your thirsty between those times, drink water. if you do it longg enough. it will become a habit. and you won't even want a cokee. (:
