Healing of a tooth extraction?!

Question: Healing of a tooth extraction.?
I had my last molar on my right side pulled out 09/25/08, so it has been a week and 1 day. I still have a pretty big hole in my mouth where the tooth was pulled, and sometimes I have earache pain, but no mouth pain, no blood or anything like that.

It was a simple extraction, no surgery or anything like that.

I do tend to put my tounge in the whole a lot!!! I know the hole should heal after about 1-2 weeks, and fill up, but like I said, it hasn't yet.

Any idea's why.?.?Health Question & Answer

Hello, First, the extraction site will fill in and look partially healed in about two more weeks...From that point on you still have five months to go...During the five months the area around the extraction site will change in shape and size....and 90% of that will happen without your realizing it's going on. The discomfort your feeling in the jaw/ear area may be because your so aware of the extraction that your both consciously and unconsciously shifting your chewing to the other side of your mouth and in doing so somewhat stressing the jaw joint on the side your feeling discomfort on.Health Question & Answer
