Tooth extraction, and healing?!

Question: Tooth extraction, and healing.?
I had my last molar on my right side pulled out 09/25/08, so it has been a week and 1 day. I still have a pretty big hole in my mouth where the tooth was pulled, and sometimes I have earache pain, but no mouth pain, no blood or anything like that.

It was a simple extraction, no surgery or anything like that.

I do tend to put my tounge in the whole a lot!!! I know the hole should heal after about 1-2 weeks, and fill up, but like I said, it hasn't yet.

Any idea's why.?.?Health Question & Answer

Hey=) first of all, stop touching it!!! Pain can occur as a result of anaesthetic, even the tooth next to the extractd one can be sensative, because there's nothn to protect it anymore.it will take aroun 2 3 weeks for the hole to get filled,u have to rinse all the time after u eat because food can get trapped in there and cause infection.try to stary away from that area!!! Don't poke and dig. Good luccckkk=) p.s. Don't smoke, gonna get dry socket.painfull.Health Question & Answer

It will just over time that is just fill it self so to speak. it is not something you really realize. trust me i've had 10 extractions done at one time at a oral surgeons office. The earache maybe just a affect of what you had done. I don't know if the tooth was in a weird area or what your circumstances are though. I would assume it should go away but to be sure call the dentist or whomever it was that completed your extraction. Hope this helps:)Health Question & Answer

You need something for the hole--your saliva will help the healing but also contains bacteria. It is healing from the inside out. I know it's gross, but someone told me that putting a bit of crushed aspirin on the hole really helps, and certainly can't hurt. I always take a ton of Vitamin C after dental work--helps. If it has been only for a week... give it more time and stop put your tongue in the hole. Like others said, gargle some warm salt water and you should be fine. As long as there is no blood or gum infection...It is okay.

I just had my wisdom tooth extraction and it has been about two weeks and the hole is not fully closed yet. But mine probably a different scenario, my stupid dentist broke the teeth into three pieces during the extraction. He had to ask other senior dentist to perform a surgery on it. It doesnt necessairly take a 2 weeks it can take more time.. i got my wisdom teeth extracted and it took about 3 weeks... b/c they didnt stitch it back up so i also had a whole.. i would advise u to stop putting ur tongue in it and try just drinking some warm stuff like tea and what not and it actually does kinda help... hope u feel better Health Question & Answer

i just had 3 teeth extracted so i know how it feels and all i did was gargle with warm salt water after every meal and before i went to bed. That cleans the hole so it doesn't get infected and you should really stay away from hard, crunchy or greasy foods.

i hope i was some help!
