no that was not true for me but when i got my braces out i had to wear a plastic retainer for 6 months to stop my teeth from goin back to there old way. hope this helped Health Question & Answer
I had braces for 1 year, my friend about 6 months, and another friend for over a year. It depends on how bad your teeth are. So they only keep them on until the problem is fixed, then off they go! :) If you need them, don't worry, no one really calls you metal mouth, etc.

You usually get a retainer to wear, after the ortbodonist is done straightening wth the braces. Everybody has different teeth, so everyones situation would be different.Health Question & Answer
