WISDOM TEETH REMOVED?? INCORRECTLY?!

Question: WISDOM TEETH REMOVED.?.? INCORRECTLY.?
I am tripping out right now. I just had my wisdom teeth removed about an hour ago and i have a feeling the dentist did it wrong. He numbed me first of course, but then he just yanked my wisdom teeth out and it took about 45 seconds. Im afraid he might have done it wrong as i have heard that taking wisdom teeth out usually takes an hour or so. He didn't even prescribe me any pain killers or anything. Did he remove my wisdom teeth incorrectly.? I'm afraid i might get some kind of infectionHealth Question & Answer

Sue your dentist.Health Question & Answer

The dentist gave you gas, or some form of anesthesia, so in reality, you have NO IDEA how long it took, you just imagine you do. You don't need prescription painkillers, you can just take whatever over-the-counter medication the dentist told you to use. If you have forgotten, look at the paperwork he gave you. If you don't have any, then look on the bright side, perhaps he'll forget to bill you, too!

(There is no "incorrect way" to pull a tooth out, you just pull it out...)Health Question & Answer

if your teeth are already in your gums, theyre easier to get out. then the dentist can just yank them
when i got mine out, they were in the bone so it took longer and hurt more because they had to cut thru my bone

im sure the dentist did it right though for you.

oh and i did get an infection too. if you get like a pus pocket in your mouth, call the dentist IMMEDIATELY! i had an infection like this and waited for a few days and it really hurt. they had to give me tons of vicodin and i got sick from it.,.. not prettyHealth Question & Answer

It depends on many things but it is very quick and easy in some instances and others need to have more time involved because they are impacted in the bone. In your case I'm sure the Dr did what he felt was best it sounded like an easy one. Just take Advil for any pain and follow the directions on the paper they gave you after they were done.Health Question & Answer

I'm guessing your wisdom teeth work not impacted - meaning they weren't still under the gum. When my husband got his taken out - his were not impacted and he was done in about 2 minutes - his teeth came out very easily. It takes longer to remove wisdom teeth if they are still under the gum - the dentist has to cut into the gum and dig to get them out. So you were lucky! Health Question & Answer

actually, the procedure itself (tooth extraction) is very quick. why the whole ordeal takes a long time is because they need to make sure you are in the correct plane of anesthesia, and then need to reverse the it.

although. i had three molars removed and that procedure took ~10 minutes (my friend that was there with me told me how long it took). i had to ask for my pain script, but i never used it.
Health Question & Answer

That sounds a little wacky. Did you go to the discount dentist.? It's really surprising that he didn't prescribe you any painkillers, I mean when I got mine out I was numbed and giving Valium through an IV to pretty much knock me out and after wards I got prescribed 10/325 generic Oxycontin.Health Question & Answer

Well I had to get surgery done. Was put under etc. However all four of my wisdom teeth were impacted (growing into my jaw bone). If yours weren't perhaps he did it correctly. Personally I went and saw a maxilofacial surgeon. Went I woke up my jaw was so sore and swollen that I looked like a chipmunk for two weeks.Health Question & Answer

Are you sure it's your wisdom teeth.? Are you sure it only took 45 seconds.?

If he did things exactly the way you described, then yes, he did it wrong. If you just had them out an hour ago, why aren't you howling in pain.?Health Question & Answer

Some extractions are easier than others. Mine were a breeze like yours and all healed up quickly. It takes longer for many due to impacted wisdom teeth or other complications. You should be feeling lucky not worried!Health Question & Answer

he is supposed to prescribe penicillin to ward off infection and either vicadin or perkaset to ease the pain if he did it that fast then he did it wrong. I had mine taken out 2 weeks ago btwHealth Question & Answer

When I had mine removed, one came out with a few good tugs, the other one was a little harder, but not more then a minute or two.Health Question & Answer

I had 3 done and it took no time at all...I'm thinking more than 45 secods though. I'm sure you're fine.Health Question & Answer
