My dentist said my roots were 'dead'?!

Question: My dentist said my roots were 'dead'.?
He said that my roots were dead on my tooth and he said I could either do a root canal or have it pulled. He said the chances of a root canal working were very low and then it would just have to be pulled anyway. I decided to get it pulled of course. I'm not going to risk it not working and then get it pulled anyway.
So he said he couldn't tell me what it was. And he said this may have started when I was little.

Does anyone have a clue what it could be.?
Thanks. Health Question & Answer

Answers:
"first you have to understand the meaning that you root is dead its mean that the nerve and the pulp of your teeth are infected
the chance to keep your teeth is high if the infection did not attached the "Apex" and the periapical tissue
but if its low if she did it ,
tray with your dentist to clean the root and i wait the results if its negativ you have to pulled it out
