Gargling with Hydrogen Peroxide has been both effective and cost efficient. My mom and dad noticed my teeth were "really" white after 3 months of being away and only about 3 weeks of treatment.
Crest White Stripes use about a 10% Hydrogen Peroxide mix, but the bottled Hydrogen Peroxide comes at about 5%. So the whitening will take longer than it would with Crest Stripes.

My dental hygenist always asks what kind of toothpaste I use because my teeth are that white. I use Crest Whitening plus Scope. I have for years. You can spend a fortune using commercial teeth whiteners but the best thing is to swish with full strength peroxide for 1 minute, twice a day. It's important to rinse with water after you swish. Your dentist can offer a program to you. They take impressions of your teeth so they can make you a custom soft plastic tray that fits exactly on your teeth when you sleep at night. You put a little bit of this whitening gel in there and voila. Takes a little getting used to but it's worth it.

A really cheap and easy way would be to like swish some hydrogenated peroxide. Just don't get anything that has to high of a peroxide percent cause that will burn, bad. Peroxide is like the main ingredient in all whitening toothpastes, mouthwashes, ect. The peroxide bubbles a lot though so don't use to much lol ;)Health Question & Answer
I used the 10-day Crest Whitestripes. They really worked. The only thing about them is I heard that they aren't very good for the enamel on your teeth, because they weaken it to be able to make your teeth white.
They really do work though. I also use the Vivid White toothpaste.

Crest Whitestrips. Its not as fast as getting them professionally whitened, but it works gradually. You can pick them up at Wal-Mart, Shopko, etc. They are about 40 dollars or so, but its worth it, and not even close as expensive as professional whitening sessions. Health Question & Answer
