How to care for new teeth?!

Question: How to care for new teeth.?
My son is 8 months old a just got his first front two teeth. this is my first baby and im not sure how to care for them. When do you make a dentist appointment.?
also i am wondering, they always say that a baby drinking a bottle to go to sleep can ruin their teeth. My son is very attached to his bottle. Especially to help him sleep. When should i start trying to take the bottle from him. How would i get him to go to sleep without his bottle.?Health Question & Answer

You can buy toothpaste for infants. It doesn't have flouride in it. It comes with this rubber piece you put on your finger, and you use that to wipe his teeth and gums. As far as the bottle goes.. you should have him completely weaned off of it by his first birthday. I never had this issue because I nursed, so honestly, I'm not 100% sure on what to recommend for weaning him. Now, when I weaned my son from the breast, I simply just rocked him to sleep at night without nursing. The first few nights were very difficult, but we got through them. =) He would wake up ocassionally wanting to nurse, but I just rocked him back to sleep again and that was that. After a few days, he was fine.

Good luck! And congrats!

No need to go to the dentist just yet. Take a cotton wash cloth and wipe down his teeth to clean them. They also sell baby toothbrushes you can use. No need to put toothpaste on it.
If you son needs a bottle to fall asleep trying giving him water in the bottle. If you give him juice or milk there is a chance it could cause decay on his teeth. That is what is called Bottle Rot. They fall asleep and the liquid remains in their mouth and sits on their teeth.Health Question & Answer
