Question: PAINTFUL tooth!! pills wont work!! what to do.?
Im going to the dentist tomorrow morning(again) but my Tooth is killing me So Far ive taken 10 Tylenol today and 8 Advil's. I have taken so many because there NOT WORKING! Im in such severe pain that any pressure from anything applied to my tooth sets it off! I cant eat or chew anything from the pain. It feels like my tooth is swollen and its right about to POP off! It also has its own heart beat. What can take this pain away for the night. Cold things don't hurt it but HEAT makes Jetting pains!! Orijel is NOT working, only numbs my toung and lips. not the painful tooth. My tounge cant even touch the tooth with out me crying. Health Question & Answer

Don't try to touch the tooth. And stop taking so many pills please! try placing like a Popsicle or Jello in it and try not to cry. Hold back the tears with all your strength until the day of going to the dentist's.Health Question & Answer
I've been there too. What I did and I think you should do too, is to go to the local ER and have them give you a Novocaine shot. It only lasts for a few hours, but it will help you sleep until you go to the dentist.

Well, only something that treats breakthrough pain will stop it (opiates).
You might want to take some diphenhydramine (Unisom, Benadryl) to sleep but nothing that is non-prescription will treat this pain.Health Question & Answer

Well there is a medicine that is made only for hurting teeth that is called i might smell it wrong but anyway it is called ambesol

This really sounds like an awfully bad situation.
Not that I condone drinking lots of alcohol, but.... maybe a glass of red wine (beer is great too) to help you relax might be a good idea (DON'T do this if you're underage!!!). And don't take any more painkillers, these stay in your body and can interact with what the dentist will treat you with tomorrow.
Resist the urge to touch the tooth with your tongue.
Don't eat anything. It's just for tonight so you'll be fine. Maybe drink some water - only warm or room temperature! Chamomille tea is great too - very soothing and pain reducing.

I'm so sorry, it sounds like maybe you have an abscess tooth or something, glad you are seeing the dentist tomorrow. Stop taking tylenol and advil. Its not working and you'll make yourself sick. My only advice is to try to call your dentist's emergency number and see if he can call you in something to get you through the night. I don't know what kind of relationship you have with your dentist, but mine has always helped me and my husband. Be aware that dentists are limited as to what they can call in, for stronger pain meds. you need the actual prescription. If it is really bad, I would go to the ER, if its abscessing, or whatever, you may need to get some kind of treatment tonight. That kind of pain sounds like its pretty serious, I think that is what I would do if calling dentist doesn't work. Sorry you're in pain, hope you get better soon.Health Question & Answer
