How are wisdom teeth removed and is it really painful?!

Question: How are wisdom teeth removed and is it really painful.?
I've got one wisdom tooth come through and its now becoming really pain full.
it feels like only half of the tooth has grown and doesn't line up with the rest of my teeth and is now rubbing up against the inside of my mouth.
The tooth itself doesn't cause any pain its just the rubbing and now i'm also getting food stuck behind it which is really difficult to clean properly.

Can I still have it removed even though its not completely grown.?
how do you remove it and how painful is it really.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Your condition could be categorized as an impacted wisdom tooth. It cannot go out completely because it is being blocked by another tooth, i.e. impacted because it does not grow straight up but otherwise could growing side way. Anyway, any impacted wisdom tooth is eventually painful because it keeps on growing and does impacting on the other tooth. The best way is to consult a good dentist and have the tooth assessed. The dentist will either try to remove it the normal way, or resort to surgery.

Because the normal way is sometimes difficult for the dentist, he could try to remove the other tooth that is blocking the wisdom tooth. But that would be problematic and traumatic for both you and the dentist. Of course, it could be done, if the dentist is strong (so it is advised to see a big male dentist!). However, the dentist would usually recommend surgical removal of the wisdom tooth, but this is quite expensive and you would be treated to anesthetics to deaden the pain.

I am not trying to intimidate you, but this is the situation. Please go to your doctor for his professional determination and advice.Health Question & Answer

get it sorted as soon as, i left my wisdom tooth for ages (long story, re-loctaed and didnt have a dentist!) and it became really infected, as like you said, you cant clean it properly. my dentist, when i eventually got one, pulled it out there and then in the surgery, as it was so bad, they numb it first, so it doesn't hurt when it's being done, but when it wears off, becasue the root of the tooth is so deep, it can be really painful, my face bruised, and my whole face ached, you may need to go to hospital to have it taken out, depends on how its growing and if it's pushing other teeth forward. go to you're dentist asap to cause further pain, and they can tell you if it's ready to some out x

you can have your teeth pulled whenever, i had all 4 of mine cut out b4 they grew in and it didnt hurt, they put you to sleep, and then they would have to cut your mouth and take it out because its not grown in yet, the only thing that really hurts is that after its over when you try to eat its hard to put anything in your mouth cause those teeth are right where those muscles are when you open your mouth.

I only had two at the top of my mouth. They were perfectly inline and would never bother me for life. They would not grow out for another 15-30 years, but I had them removed anyway, and after 45 seconds they were out. I ate a tender steak from Sizzler that night, very slowly, using my middle teeth and only bled for a bit and everything was fine for me.Health Question & Answer

I had all 4 wisdom teeth removed under general anaesthetic, all of them were at differing stages of growth so my gums had to be cut to get them out. I won't lie, it was painful after the op, but a couple of days of pain was well worth not having the pain week in week out I suffered with them before hand. Health Question & Answer

Wisdom teeth are removed by minor surgical procedure - if well done it is not painful during healing ( you will be given pain killers)
During the surgical procedure, you will get local aneathesia so it wont hurtHealth Question & Answer

It depends on how far it's showing as to how hard it is to remove. I've had all mine out and whilst the aftermath can be sore and bloody the extraction isn't painful Health Question & Answer

You'll be asleep during the time they take it out, you won't feel a thing. Health Question & Answer
