its just a surgery to, how should i put it, "readjust" my jaw for a later surgery that i will get in 3-5 years because my underbite is so severe, they have to move it back a little bit. so, how long is my jaw gonna be wired shut.?Health Question & Answer

Im sorry about the underbite thing i have one too and i wish it would just go away. however mine isnt as severe and the orthodontist guy that im going to be leaving is a liar/moron. before you do any surgery go see another orthodontist for a second opinion. anyway about the real question i dont know how long it will be shut for i think its a max of 3 weeks but ask your orthodontist.Health Question & Answer
My jaw was wired for about 8 weeks, but it was only completely wired for about 5 days. After that they were slightly looser so I could fit a teaspoon through the gap to eat. I had a really bad underbite too and Im going to be honest it was very painful for the first week or so but after that its gets better and it was the best thing I have ever done. Some family members didn't even recognize me the first time they saw me after my op.

Depends on severity. My friend had to have it done to her because of her underbite, she had it I think for about 6 days.Health Question & Answer
