I have cavities. How can I save the rest of my teeth?!

Question: I have cavities. How can I save the rest of my teeth.?
Since I've been having problems with my teeth (too much soda and not enough brushing) I've started taking really good care of my teeth (for about two months now). I've made sure to brush them twice a day, use fluoride rinse, stop drinking soda and juice (just water and milk now), but my teeth are still hurting and some are even getting worse (ones that previously weren't decaying as bad). I can't get into the dentist until January. Can someone please give me some advice on how to strengthen and save my teeth.? Health Question & Answer

Your making a good effort, but your forgetting one critical aspect, flossing! Brushing and fluoride rinses only clean the outside of your teeth, but bacteria is still building up in between your teeth! In fact, my dentist told me that brushing and flouride rinses only clean about 50% of your teeth and the other 50% can only be cleaned by flossing twice a day (morning and night)! If you don't floss then the bacteria between your teeth will slowly start to decay your the edges of your teeth! Health Question & Answer

Good job on your great care for your teeth.

Be sure to floss though, its so important to floss.

There are two other things you can do:

Use trident gum with "xylitol" in it, its a sugar that tricks the bacteria in your mouth and decreases the bad bacteria that causes decay.

also a cool new herbal lollipop came out that has licorice extract in it and helps reduce bad bacteria in your mouth.

Try taking water with you during the day, you can swish and swallow throughout the day. You may have low saliva flow, which can destroy teeth even when you brush well, you need to rinse them during the day to get the bacterial acids off.

Anyway, try the link below for the lollipops.

good luck.

are you using an anti cavity tooth paste.? maybe try something like sensodyne that will help with the pain, or maybe some ora-gel till you can get to a dentist, but dont put that off any longer than you have too!!

If you are using an alcohol based mouthwash (most are), stop, and try rinsing with salt water instead.
