I was just denied coverage for a wisdom tooth extraction by my insurance Now what?!

Question: I was just denied coverage for a wisdom tooth extraction by my insurance Now what.?
I'm pretty confused, so bear with me here.

Last month I had my upper left wisdom tooth removed. It was coming in sideways and impacted, causing me great pain. A few days later I got a letter basically saying I would need to have x-rays done so that my insurance could determine whether or not it'd be covered. Now, 4 weeks later, I get paperwork saying coverage has been denied. The only reason I've been given is that it is "Not a covered service".

Mind you, this is NOT the first wisdom tooth I've had pulled. The first one was covered in full, and the dentist's office even says I have a $3 credit to my account for a copay at some point.

I have Fidelis Care, as well as Medicaid. What I was told that I'm supposed to use Medicaid first, and if they don't cover it, Fidelis should. But when I went to my dentist's office last month, the receptionist told me they only take the Fidelis card now (before, they took both). My Medicaid ID number is on that card as well.

Could it be that they tried using the wrong insurance for coverage, or am I really going to have to pay this bill now.? There's no way I can afford this, and it was my understanding that it would all be covered for me.

If anyone has any advice that might be helpful, please do share. Thanks so much in advance =]Health Question & Answer
