Dental question/issue, please help. Brushing problem.?!

Question: Dental question/issue, please help. Brushing problem..?
Hello, I have a little dental hygiene problems I could use some help on.

Well, I brush my teeth 2 times a day, assuming the 12 hour protection. I floss 2 times a day, and I use Listerine (plaque version) 2 times a day.

The dentist told me it was plaque, but these dentists in Miami are extremely incompetent, he had no tips on what I was doing wrong, no advice what so ever.

I rarely drink water, but I doubt that's what's causing my plaque. I'm due for a cleaning in a few weeks.

I brush my teeth with anti fluoride tooth paste for about 4-5 minutes, then floss gently, rinse after the floss, then Listerine.

I do this twice a day every day, and I make sure to brush before I eat breakfast. My problem is, I seem to have a minimal amount of plaque. I don't really understand why I have this.

I brush my teeth everyday as I typed it, and even brush my tongue. I switch toothbrushes every 2 months. And I use a medium, soft, bristle tooth brush.

Can anyone please give me any tips you may have.? Maybe the best toothbrush around.? Or the best type or something. It's really disappointing that I do everything I am supposed to, and I still wound up with plaque.

I don't drink water too often, but I highly doubt that's what's causing my plaque, then again, I wouldn't know.

Any type of tips/advice/solutions would be great, thank you.

Perhaps he had no advice because, as you tell it, you're doing everything right.

If you have some money to spend, I highly recommend getting a Waterpik (with the big countertop reservoir, not the handheld one) and an electric toothbrush or a Sonicare. That's what I use and a couple of weeks ago my dentist said I had zero plaque and tartar. The Waterpik flushes out the flotsam and jetsam that floss, bristles, and swishing with mouthwash can't reach under the gums, no matter how hard or how often you try.

My old hygienist recommended it to me sometime around my last cleaning in March, and this new dentist said my teeth are as clean as though I'd had them done again two days prior to his exam.

Just my thoughts, since your hygiene is such a priority for you. I can't say enough about my arsenal, although I do miss the counter space. Health Question & Answer

Like you I did all those things yet my gums were bleeding overnight. Turned out it was plaque. Yesterday I had the first of 2 dental cleanings where he filled my mouth with anesthetic and scraped the hell out of my teeth and gums. didnt feel a thing. Recommend you get it done too otherwise your teeth will fall out!Health Question & Answer
