I went to a dentist, and pulling one tooth he broke another...?!

Question: I went to a dentist, and pulling one tooth he broke another....?
I went to Gentle Dental in December to have a my wisdom teeth pulled, since they were really bothering me.

When the dentist pulled the left one, he ended up cracking and breaking the tooth right next to it.

When this originally happened I didn't feel any pain (I was pretty much drugged out of my gorge when I had the tooth pulled though - I'm a complete baby at the dentist), and it didn't start to bother me until about April of this year.

Now I'm having a lot of pain with the tooth, and it's more filed down, so I keep cutting the side of my cheek with the tooth (if that makes sense). There is also A LOT of pressure in the gums around the tooth, and a small bubble directly on the gums above it.

So, my questions are: [1] Is there anything I can do to ease the pain until I can save some money and get to the dentist {my insurance doesn't cover dental, and I originally only went to gentle dental because they offer payment plans}.? [2] Any idea what the bubble might be and how long I can wait until I see a dentist.?

Thanks!Health Question & Answer

First Question.... Did you sign a consent to treatment before the extraction.? If you did, did it say anywhere on there that possible harm to other teeth could be possible.? If you did sign a consent form there is no responsibility for the dentist to fix your tooth. It is a way for them to cover there rear ends! If you didn't then consult a lawyer and get some legal advice.

The bubble above your tooth is an abscess. The reason you feel pressure is because there is an infection on your root tip and the infection as it grows puts pressure because there is not a lot of room up there. :) So your gums get sore and it may even hurt if you bite down. The only way to fix this is by a root canal and a crown. Or by extracting the tooth. The dentist may prescribe antibiotics but it will only temporarily fix the problem. The next time it comes back, and it will, it will be worse.

The reason i'm believe this is happening is because there was trauma to the tooth by him breaking it and with the force he used. When a tooth is "hit" hard enough then it undergoes trauma just like our skin does when you get a cut or a bruise. Sometimes the tooth may bounce back, or get an infection like it sounds you did.

There is no temoprary cure at home that will help out a lot. I would recommend that if you want a few minutes of temporary relief than swish with some warm water. It may ease the pain but other than that there are no home remedies. If you are taking OTC medicine I would use ibuprofen because it is an anti-inflammatory and it wll help better than tylenol. You can also take them together id you would like. :) Can't say the dose or frequency for you though. Good Luck!Health Question & Answer

A "bubble" could mean an abscess and an infected tooth. Given your financial situation I would suggest you go see the doctor who did your extractions and discuss your concerns with him.

Do it right away. Dental problems do not disappear or heal by themselves; on the contrary, they tend to worsen with time. also, until you get rid of the infection, the
