Is this common for retainers?!
Question: Is this common for retainers.?
I got my braces off two days ago and just got my retainers today. I got an Essix top retainer and a permanent bottom retainer. They said I have to pick up an Essix retainer for my lower to go over my permanent one because I have a gap that needs to be held for an implant.
Is this common.?
And are there any tips to help me learn to speak with my Essix retainers in.?Health Question & Answer

teeth have a tedency to move if gap is there and if you got the tooth extracted then that space has to be saved other wise the teeth will try to move to cover that gap and all you ortho treatment will go waste so do as you are told. initialy with retainers it is difficult to speak but if you practice speaking with them you will be fine in 2-3 days . for more inforation on retainers you can follow the following link

I got my braces off recently too and have to use an Essix retainer as well. I'm not totally sure what you mean by gap, but I think I need to get a couple bottom teeth filled in because it seems like some parts of them are missing or just wierd because of my braces, so I guess it can be common.
When you first have your retainers on it will be a bit hard to speak, but you will get used to it in a couple of days don't worry.Health Question & Answer

No idea good luck though... I know I had them before I got braces.... yeah dumbest orthedontist on earth!!!!! And the bottom was permanent like yours.....! I got braces a couple years later and I just have night things I wear now..... to keep them from moving.... ive had them off for about 3 years now.
Good luck though with the retainers the nguy I used for them ****** uo my jaw and so now if I want it fixed I have tio get surgery.... more of a superficial thing though it doesnt bother my bite and doesnt look different just a bit off...Health Question & Answer

wear it during the night for a week and you'll get used to it right away. Even though your orthodontist will swear that you need to wear it during the day, you'll be just fine wearing it at night only. And that way you can avoid speech problems around school or workHealth Question & Answer
