Is it normal for my tongue to feel numb?!

Question: Is it normal for my tongue to feel numb.?
I went to the dentist because I had a loose filling. My dentist removed the decay and told me that he can't put a real filling in, only a temporary one because some decay got into the pulp and if it touches the nerve and bothers me I'll have to get a root canal.

I have never felt my tongue be numb...Nothing else is numb but my tongue and I'm hungry! not only that, its weird cuz I cant aste the nastiness of the filling ugh! Tastes like medicine. Is that normal too.? Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Yes. Its completely normal for your tongue to be numb during/after the dentist. The reason is that they numb your gums with an oral anesthetic prior to injecting you with Novocaine and it probably got on your tongue. Don't worry about it.Health Question & Answer
