It could be because the cavity was so close to the nerve that now the tooth has a 'irreversible pulpitis' and inflammation of the pulp (nerve of the tooth) If that is it, it would need a root canal.....this a problem for you, not anything wrong with what was done to the tooth. Sometimes the cavity is just too deep...and the nerve is affected.Health Question & Answer

You should go back to your dentist

You should go back to your dentist... it should not still hurt. Sometimes dentists over-fill a tooth or under-fill a tooth. If it is over-filled it can actually crack the tooth. If it is under-filled then it can rot away even more due to the drilling. He might have even missed some of the cavity when he drilled, and your tooth may be rotting away underneath the filling. You need to go back now and explain the feeling to him in detail. Good luck!Health Question & Answer
