Yeah I had the same problem and they probably won't tell you as they're putting them on. Mine even told me there would be some soreness. Yeah some extreme soreness underneath the pain!

Of course don't want to scare you, you didn't say your age and it makes a difference. The older you are the more painful it will be. I'm 20 and the roots are more embedded. Anywhoo it took about an hour and first the hardest part is the brackets but at least it's the first thing.

1.The have to hammer metal fittings over your molars and glue them in place. This should be easier as long as you kept in your spacers.

2. Next they glue the ... on the front of all your teeth. Sorry don't remember the name but they hold the wires in place. I was so ignorant I thought this was the last step.

3. But no on went the wires which are what move your teeth around eventually but by that time there is so much pressure in your mouth you don't care about the wires. You get to pick the color though :) TAKE THE MEDICINE THEY ADVISE!! The pain was severe the first two days but it mellowed to sucky for the next two weeks. It gets better every day. Liquid food is a must and I got really bad cankers but my mouth is really small too.

Cankers are caused by the fact that the metal rubs up against your cheeks and rips them and that caused a good part of my misery the first two weeks. But don't worry, your cheeks will toughen up. Do brush more because braces are a magnet for food and you don't want to end up like this one girl I knew who got her braces removed and everything was yellow except where her braces were.

Do use the wax they give you for nighttime/anytime you have really bad canker sores or else the cankers will hurt much worse as the metal continually rubs against the open wound. The wax does it's job as it coats the hard metal. Fabulous. You can buy more if you run out. Buy some canker sore stuff in the dental aisle. It helps. Flossing takes a lot longer though so appreciate it while you can. You don't have to use the blue flossers they give you, much more complicated than it needs to be-just thread the floss by itself through the wires like if you were sewing.

One good thing is that follow up appts are a breeze even when they tighten, nothing touches putting them on. Oh and I've actually already seen a difference in my teeth and I've only had them two months. Braces aren't that bad, especially at my age-I think of them as a fashion accesory. No more buck teeth, gaps, or crookedness they're amazing, it's worth it!!Health Question & Answer

From my experience of getting braces, I remember them putting some sort of adhesive on your tooth, then placing the bracket/brace, and then making the adhesive dry by putting some sort of a UV light on it. Then they do that for all your teeth.

If you're afraid that it's going to be painful, the actual putting on of the bracket on your tooth is painless. The pain comes when they actually put the wire across your teeth because of the strain of them trying to move around and try to become straight.

Hope that helps. :)Health Question & Answer

I don't know how far, you've gotten so far so I'll start from the beginning. First they make a mold of your teeth by putting goo in your mouth (I found it the worst part since I kept almost choking on it). For your next visit, they put small rubber bands in between my very back teeth so that they can have enough room to insert the metal rings needed to hold the wire. Then, for the visit after that, they remove the rubber bands and start doing the actual braces. They first put metal rings around the 2 teeth in the very back of each side of your mouth so you'll have 8 rings in your mouth total. To do this, they take different sizes of rings to try and fit in your mouth. When they find the right one, they'll take some nasty tasting glue and put it around your teeth. Next, they glue the bracket onto your teeth with the same type of glue. In order to dry the glue, you'll have to wear goggles while they take an instrument that produces a lot of heat and put it close to your mouth. After they do the brackets, they'll insert the wire. The wire fits around the brackets and go into a handle on the rings around the back of your teeth. Then, they'll take a type of rubber string with holes in it to connect all of the brackets together. The brackets go into the holes. Either after or before that, they ask you to choose a color for your "o"s which go around the brackets. I think that's it. They'll also ask if there is anything that is poking. It is very important to tell them if there is. Otherwise, it'll be poking you for 1 month or more, and that is not pleasant. Good luck.Health Question & Answer

So first they start out by cleaning your teeth, and then put this jelly like thing on your teeth, thats so that the brackets will stick. They might do a tiny bit of this drilling like stuff, but you feel absolutely no pain. So then they'll arrange the brackets the way thats most suitable for your teeth. Then when thats set, they put the wires in, and make sure not to have anything poking you at the back of your mouth, because it'll just get worse because the first week that you have your braces will be the week that your teeth move the most and you don't want any wounds. Then they might ask you to choose a color for your brackets, then you'll probably be on your way! This procedure takes about 1 hour or a little more. Make sure to get plenty of cold things to drink, like rly rly cold smoothies and slushies. You'll be in quite a bit of pain, so cold things are your friends. Make sure to clean them everyday and floss and all of that good stuff. :) Good luck!! Health Question & Answer

Ive had braces so many times
in fact im stuck with them now haha

anyways..
ya so they first make a mold of your teeth a few days before
then when you get them on they clean your teeth and add dabs of glue on selected teeth and put the bracets in the mold
then they attach the mood to your teeth (so the braces fit on the teeth and stick to the glue) and wait for it to dry then take it off
back when my mom had braces it hurt but now it doesnt
the only thing really left are the wires and rubber bands itll feel wierd and tight and the next few days itll hurt so dont eat hard food

hope this helped....its no big deal seriouslyHealth Question & Answer

First they put on the brackets and use this thing to activate the glue in them to stay on your teeth. Then after those are all on they will put the wire on and cut off the ends. At the end they'll ask you which colors or color of rubber bands you want and they put them around the brackets.
Good luck! It hurts terribly for the first couple days. I suggest you buy some soup and apple sauce, stuff like that because you will not be able to chew.Health Question & Answer
