Why would all of my teeth hurt?!

Question: Why would all of my teeth hurt.?
A few weeks ago I had two fillings done. One of them still hurt when I bite down on stuff. But recently I have a molar in the back of my mouth that never broke through. Now its hurting back there, but now it seems like all of my teeth hurt. They are sore, and it seems like oragel or cloves dont even help. I will have free dental in about a week when I go back active duty, so I will get it looked at then. Health Question & Answer

Well, it could be a couple things. First thing I would check is to see if your bite is right. When a filling is done, especially on the chewing surface, it may not be in occlusion. Meaning that when you bite down, chew, talk, eat, etc it is hitting in a area where it is not supposed to be. When it does this it causes the ligaments around your teeth to bruise, and then the teeth in that area all feel like they hurt!

Second, when doing a filling on a tooth, especially a big filling, it causes trauma to the tooth. When the dentist goes in there a takes out the decay, it irritates the tooth and may not bounce back to being "normal"! If you get what I am saying.. If this is the case then you will most likely need a root canal and crown. The nerve dies when traumatized and that is the cause for the root canal. When having a root canal done the tooth becomes brittle and if it is not protected by a crown then it may break. So the two go hand in hand.

I would first go see our dentist and have a member of his staff check your bite first and see if that helps. If it doesn't happen after the first couple times of them adjusting it then it most likely will need a root canal and a crown. Good Luck!Health Question & Answer

You probably have a tooth (maybe the one with the filling) that needs a crown or root canal. Because of how the nerves in your teeth are, it is possible to have a tooth with an abscess or other problem that causes your other teeth to hurt. About a year ago I had a tooth crowned, and a few months later had several teeth hurting. I went to the dentist and the crowned tooth had abscessed. When I had it taken care of, my other teeth stopped hurting.Health Question & Answer
