Will vinegar sanitize my plastic retainer?!

Question: Will vinegar sanitize my plastic retainer.?
I dropped my plastic retainer in the toilet. I have been soaking it in a 1/2 vinegar, 1/2 water solution. I also cleaned it with my toothbrush...which is nasty because now my toothbrush is toilety. I can't use hot/warm water. Any other ideas or is vinegar good enough.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Vinegar is highly acidic.
Some kids soaked eggs in vinegar in science class. It ate the calcium shell off the egg in 3 days. If it can dissolve a mineral coating, it can kill bacteria.
That would have definitely killed anything living in your toilet. Just give it a brushing and rinse it well in warm water. Hot will run the risk of deforming it. You have a good sense of what will work.

Hope this helpedHealth Question & Answer

I would make a weak solution of bleach & water and soak my retainer in it, And a stronger one, or pure bleach for the brush, my mom has dentures and puts bleach in her soaking water all the time, not much, but it is a sure kill for bacteria.Health Question & Answer

Maybe try a 3/4 water, 1/4 bleach solution!Health Question & Answer
